All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Driving Safe for the Holidays

“Holiday” is synonymous with “travel” for many people. This Christmas season, don’t ruin the jolly joy with a fatal car crash. Accidents are fun NEVER, but especially not during the holidays. Follow these few safety tips and enjoy a holly jolly Christmas!

Prepare

Before you even take off, make sure that your car is in top condition. Make sure the gas tank is full, the tread on your tires are good, and your oil is good. Check the weather forecast along your route and pack chains or an emergency winter kit if you think you’ll hit a big, snowy storm.

Stay Alert

Don’t ever drive drowsy, distracted, or drunk. Make sure you get a good night’s rest. Pull over to a safe location and take a power nap if you need. Try to avoid talking on a cell phone when you drive (after all, it’s illegal in some states – FYI). If you’ll be at a party where there will be alcohol, make sure you have a designated driver who is 100% alcohol free!

Switch Drivers

If you are taking a long, long trip, switch drivers every once in a while if you can. Splitting up the driving responsibilities will help keep each driver fresh. If you don’t have the option of switching drivers, be sure to take breaks. Get up, walk around, and get your blood circulating again.

Buckle Up

This is a no-brainer. Wear your seat belt. Too many people think that the holidays are a carefree season. Usually, that’s semi-true. But not when you’re in the car! Be safe. Buckle up.
